Your complete guide to planning a photo session during Your UAE Vacation | Abu Dhabi Family Photographer

Updated: 7 days ago

What better time for a photo session than during your holiday? Not only do you have the chance to capture your adventures in a unique setting, but you can also document natural moments while exploring the city. Abu Dhabi, with its golden dunes and stunning coastline, offers the perfect backdrop for your memories — whether you’re a family discovering new places or a couple on a romantic getaway.

Choose the Photographer

Start by researching photographers in Abu Dhabi whose style truly resonates with you.
With so many photographers offering different approaches to sessions and editing styles, it’s easy to find someone who matches your vibe. Before making a decision, take time to review their portfolio and client feedback to ensure they align with your vision. It’s also wise to choose a local photographer who understands the regional laws, photography permits, and the best locations. If your style aligns with light and warm photos captured in a candid style, then you’re in the right place.

Pick the Location

Abu Dhabi offers a wide range of stunning photo spots.
When choosing a location, it’s essential to consider the type of photo session you’re planning (mini or full package), the weather conditions, and your children’s temperament.

Here are a few popular choices:

• Desert Dunes:
This may seem like an obvious choice, as the UAE is renowned for its beautiful deserts. If you’ve never experienced walking on dunes, I can guarantee it will be an unforgettable adventure for both you and your kids. My favorite spot is the Al Khatim Desert, about a 50-minute drive from the city center. If we’re lucky, we might even spot some camels on the way! Plus, the location remains uncrowded, even on weekends.

• Saadiyat Beach:
In my opinion, this is the most beautiful beach in the UAE, and I’ve explored quite a few across different emirates. It offers a unique mix of lush green grass, pristine white sand, and turquoise waters. This location is ideal if you’re staying at one of the hotels on Saadiyat. Otherwise, be prepared for additional fees for beach access and a photography permit.

• Wahat Al Karama:
This iconic spot is perfect for creating a family postcard from Abu Dhabi, with the stunning Sheikh Zayed Mosque as a backdrop.

These are just a few options to consider, and I’m always happy to discuss which location would work best for you.
I’ve also written a detailed blog post about my favorite spots, complete with photo examples — please have a look under below link : Choosing the Perfect Location for Your Photo Session in Abu Dhabi

Plan transportation

Traveling around the city is pretty easy, as the taxi network is excellent.
If you need to reach more distant locations, like the desert, you can also use the Careem or Uber apps. If you prefer to drive yourself, renting a car is a convenient option. And if it all feels a bit overwhelming, I’m always happy to help. I often travel to shoot locations with my clients on board, so you won’t have to worry about getting there.

Coordinate Your Outfits

Your outfit choices can significantly impact the overall vibe of your photos. Since my style is light and airy, I always recommend wearing light, neutral tones that blend beautifully with the surroundings.

Avoid busy patterns and logos, but a subtle, delicate pattern can still work well. If you’re planning multiple looks, I’m here to help! I typically connect with clients via WhatsApp to share ideas and suggestions.

I also have a few dresses available in my client closet — feel free to check them out. You can find more tips and outfit inspiration in my blog posts here: What to wear for your maternity photo session and 5 tips what to wear for your photo shoot in Abu Dhabi

Book in Advance

Abu Dhabi is a sought-after destination, and booking your session in advance is a smart move — especially during the busiest months of November, December, and January, when the weather is ideal for outdoor shoots. Weekends fill up quickly, so if you’re considering a session, it’s best to reserve your spot early.

Few tips that I always share with my clients

Before your session, keep these little things in mind to make the most of your experience:

• Stay Hydrated: Bring some water and a snack for after the session.

• Full Tummies, Happy Kids: If you’re bringing little ones, make sure they’re well-fed before we start.

• Be Prepared: Keep a change of clothes handy, just in case.

A professional photo session is a fantastic way to preserve the memories of your trip to Abu Dhabi. With a little planning and the right photographer, you’ll walk away with stunning images that let you relive your adventure for years to come. Ready to book your session? Send me a message and lets plan it together.
