This family session took place at Umm Al Emarat Park in Abu Dhabi, a location I often recommend for families with young children. It’s spacious, green, and inside the city so it does not require long travels — which makes a big difference when you’re photographing a toddler and an expecting mum.
For me its a hidden gem inside the city with plenty of green spots to be discover. My sessions are child led which means we will follow the little one discovering new places. There weree playful moments that encouraged genuine connection and more calm whenever little M. needed a break.
A Few Tips for Photo Sessions with a Toddler:
Follow your little one
Toddlers mood is completely unpredictable and that’s ok. During my sessions we follow their lead instead of trying to control every moment.
Pick a location with space
Parks like Umm Al Emarat are ideal because children can move around freely. It helps everyone stay relaxed and enjoy every moment.
Wear something comfortable
Choose outfits that you feel comfortable in. Toddlers always keeps us on our toes so be prepared for walking, running and lifting your little one .
Bring a snack or water
Sometimes a short break is all that’s needed. We can pause whenever necessary.
Focus on each other
There will be very few times that I will ask you looking at the camera. Instead of being stiff and looking straight into camera I will encourage you to focus on your family and enjoy your time together: talking, walking, holding hands or responding to your child naturally creates the moments that matter most.
